I delight in creating beautiful spaces with sustainable building methods. Chloe's House gave us the opportunity to explore this sustainable agenda. Throughout Chloe’s renovation, we re-painted surfaces, salvaged old cabinets and reused fixtures in good working condition. This approach to Chloes House lowered the overall cost and lessened the project's environmental impact. Recycling and reusing preloved materials gave this old 1970s cottage home a new life.

I placed much time and care into planning the project. This meant Chloe could spend her budget strategically. Chloe chose to invest in designer brand materials where appropriate while balancing the budget with recycled items. My clear and realistic program set accurate expectations surrounding time and cost early on, reducing stress for all involved. This meant Chloe was able to predict payment milestones and plan for when the time came to move in. By prioritising a well-managed schedule over a rushed one, we completed the project on time, on budget and to the highest standard.

The spaces inside Chloes House feel cohesive and intentional. This is the result of a careful design process that sought to blend the existing structure with new modern elements. I drew details that complimented the original house to ensure a visually balanced appearance. The drawings of the bathroom and laundry, repairs to the timber floor and the new kitchen, knit seamlessly into the original structure, creating a smooth transition between old and new.

Opportunities for innovation were discovered during the design process. These were places where moments of creativity occur. For example, we chose warm earthen hues for the bathroom tiles and kitchen cabinets to match the aged timber floorboards. The terrazzo bathroom tiles and kitchen benchtop cover large surface areas with speckles of colour and texture. The bath, mirror, shower head and tapware are curved to soften the bathroom. The quality of these details and the overall result are made possible by the expertise, care and collaboration shown by the entire team.
